Elevated Lead Levels Detected in Science Room Sinks
Dear Parents, Guardians, and Community Members,
We want to inform you about the results of recent water testing conducted at Days Creek Charter School. On September 30, 2024, water samples from the science room sinks were tested, and the results showed a lead level of 0.018 parts per million (PPM). The Oregon Health Authority’s allowable level is 0.015 PPM.
Please note that the science room sinks are not used for drinking water. However, as a precautionary measure, these sinks will be phased out and removed from service to ensure the safety of our students and staff. The goal is to bring the system back under the 0.015 PPM threshold. All other water fixtures throughout the school were also tested and are confirmed to be safe for drinking and general use and we are working with the state to resolve the issue in the science room.
The health and well-being of our students, staff, and community remain our top priorities. If you have any questions or concerns about this matter, please contact the school office at (541) 825-3296.
Thank you for your understanding and support as we work to maintain a safe learning environment.
Sincerely,
Eli Jenks
